President Donald Trump just signed an executive action on Friday to force a $100,000 application fee for H-1B Work Visas

“We need great workers, and this pretty much ensures that that’s what’s going to happen,” Trump said from the Oval Office, where officials detailed how the measure would incentivize companies to employ American workers while still providing a pathway to hire highly skilled foreign workers in specialized fields.

The proclamation will block any entry under the program unless accompanied by the payment stated above.

In a separate order, President Donald Trump have also directed the creation of a “gold card” immigration roadway that he said would expedite visas for some immigrants in exchange for a huge fee. The policy will make visas faster for foreigners who pay the US $1,000,000, while allowing a company to pay $2 million dollars to quicken up the process for a foreign worker that it sponsors.

This is for a series of efforts from the administration to track down on immigration and place hefty new limits on the types of foreigners that is allowed to come to United States of America. This is to sway those industries that is of need heavily on H-1B workers.

The H-1B visa is a work visa that works for three years and could be renewed for another 3 years. Economists have disagreed that the program allows US companies to maintain the edge and grow their business, creating a lot more available jobs in the US.

Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick told reporters just this Friday night that the administration came to the fee of $100,000 a year , plus other costs, after talking with several companies.

He also noted that the payment plan is still under construction with the Department of Homeland Security, in terms of and in quote of “whether we’re going to charge the $300,000 up front or $100,000 a year for the three years.”
